In England, Shrove Tuesday is the day for pancakes. That is why the popular name for Shrove Tuesday is Pancake Day. The most popular traditions are tug-of-war and pancake race. Only women can take part in the pancake race, and they must wear an apron and a coif. During the race they must be tossed the pancake three times.
Today the only custom in Britain is pancake eating. At home families have pancakes for dinner or supper.
Prince William´s wife Kate celebrates the Pancake Day, too |
